White-British people learning that their 'amazing empire' and history is built on theft, slavery, colonisation, war and genocide etc through a children's history programme episode aired 10 years ago

y’all wish ur childhood shows could be as iconic as , trending 11 years later because the conservatives are butthurt over kids finding out that britain historically isn’t actually a good place lmfaoooo

Factually correct 'British Things' makes a relatively gentle poke at Britain's ugly history of imperialism. More and harder pokes are needed - not fewer - to bring that history to light

Fair play to for trying to fill part of a huge gap in the UKs understanding of their own past. Unsurprising that many of them are annoyed to be reminded that in many cases, they were the bad guys.

Not remotely coy, we just referenced more recent work (the wording was signed off long before Friday’s Twitter spat). To be clear, I could not be more proud of the hundreds of sketches I wrote for , or the five series I appeared in.

Defensive Brits are again triggered by truth - Shame! Can't handle . truth telling 'things' from Tea, Sugar, Cotton etc were obtained by blood of slaves, colonisation & stolen Much of what's 'British' are from other cultures

Imagine watching a completely factual sketch for children from ten years ago and being outraged about ‘Remain propaganda’... Horrible Histories sparked a love of history that has defined my career and I still can’t believe how wonderful it is today. Long live !

The gammonati are losing their shit at this from CBBC 10 years ago. Kids need a lot more of this not less. Nice one

I can't help but find out mildly hilarious that those who continually berate others for being "snowflakes" are exactly the same people who collapse into hysteria when a program made for children mentions that tea, sugar, and cotton aren't indigenous to Britain

  16. If is supposed to be about confidence and willpower why are leavers upset over a CBBC sketch from 10 years ago filled with historical fact & a very scant introduction from Nish Kumar, so much so hundreds of them accused the BBC of Remain propaganda?

As a historian who grew up with horrible histories I felt the need to comment on the apparent “ anti British racism “ in the Brexit special
