    Yesterday, small groups of students in were given the name of a cemetery on the Western Front and an hour to produce biographies of someone buried there using the digital resources at their disposal. They did an extraordinary job.

    Why study the First World War in Canada? In part, because 65,000 Canadians were killed at a time when Canada had 1/5th today's population. Imagine 350,000 dead, mostly by violence; Flight 752 every 6 hours from now until 2024. That's the relative tragedy of the war.
