    As the eyewall came ashore bringing major damage to Rockport and Port Aransas, an Extreme Wind Warning was issued. This became only the 2nd time ever that this warning was used - calling for extreme winds that could cause damage similar to a tornado.

    : Rockport EOC confirms Rockport High School has a chunk of the wall that has collapsed. Fishing boats pushed inland!

    August 25th, 2017.

    On this date 4 years ago... Hurricane Harvey made landfall near Rockport, Texas as a category 4 hurricane. Harvey would go on to drop record-shattering rainfall amounts and produce catastrophic flooding over southeast Texas during the following days.

    Around four years ago, I began to truly appreciate how bad was likely to be. It was unbelievable (I think once referred to the model forecasts as "patently absurd"), but seemed increasingly likely.

    Hurricane Harvey made landfall in the Coastal Bend four years ago today (August 25, 2017 around 10pm) as a category 4 storm. Gusts over 150 mph were seen around the Rockport area.

    4 years ago today Hurricane came ashore in Texas. Here's a shot of the radar as the major hurricane was roaring ashore. If you recall, this hurricane just sat over Texas, flooding Houston for days- and that's nowhere NEAR where it made landfall.
