    Before flooded our Harris County Criminal Justice Center, the average inmate stay in the HC Jail was 31 days. Today, it's nearly 43 days. Jail overcrowding is a direct result of our lost courtroom space.

    I've seen a few using as a comp to in terms of impacts on parts of the interior Southeast. I would urge folks use that comparison very cautiously. Both meteorologically and in terms of practical impacts, there are a lot of notable differences btw the two.

    A yr ago, I flew from ATL to be w/my tired, traumatized but resilient parents for 10 days after ravaged their home. Yesterday I got to spend 1 hr w/my relaxed, resilient Mom & Pop at our Houston event. They’re the most beautiful people I will ever know. 💗💗

    Models are coming into better agreement. 00Z MON GFS tracks cat 4 further south & inland than that of the 18Z GFS devastating eastern North Carolina and SE Virginia, then stalling inland. This run we have the scenario of extreme at RDU up through ORF.

    The difference here is that either: a) The storm stalls over the less populated inlet and sound in NC b) The storm stalls far enough inland that it won't have nearly the moisture supply that had. It'll be Fran/Floyd/Matthew bad, but I don't think it'll be Harvey bad.

    Before you call (or any other hurricane) "the worst" ever, perhaps read a little history. You can start with last year:

    Hurricane Florence may end up being the worst storm that the mainland United States has ever encountered. An administration with a bumbling charlatan as its leader, one that both denies and contributes to the escalation of climate change, is going to be in charge of saving lives.
