#TodayinHistory in 2013, Typhoon #Haiyan (Super Typhoon #Yolanda) made landfall at Guiuan, Eastern Samar #PH. At the time it was the most powerful storm to made landfall in recorded history w/ high winds at 195 mph. It is still one of the deadliest typhoons in PH history.

Reviewing old footage. This beach in Samar #Philippines got raked by Super #Typhoon #HAIYAN’s right-front quad at peak intensity (170 knots) ~2 hr before landfall. 90% of palms snapped off & killed. Bony trunks made you feel you were looking from inside an animal carcass. 1/2

I remember tracking #HAIYAN from it's formation to dissipation, a storm I will NEVER forget nor will those it affected.
