    Everybody may recognize ' 1st peak with its violent, pinhole eye after an episode of astonishing intensification but its 2nd peak after it underwent a eyewall replacement cycle also looks fascinating. The system naturally had a larger eye but also a very round CDO.

    Japan got hit hard by typhoon Hagibis. Yokosuka U.S. naval base sustained minimal damage. So the navy commander with his big words puts out a typical US military P.R. FB post... Didn’t even bother to offer help 🤷🏻‍♂️

    I've never seen these ECMWF ensembles for a long time showing a possible very strong typhoon in Japan over the next few days. [Subject to change] The last named storm to make landfall in Japan at typhoon strength was [80 kts] in October 12, 2019.

    Two days after Typhoon struck Japan, new video shows the extent of flooding along the Chikuma River in the Nagano prefecture. The typhoon, considered to be the strongest to hit the nation in 60 years, flooded at least 10,000 homes & left thousands without power.

    The JTWC has bumped up the intensities of Supertyphoons and from last year to 160kts/890mb and 165kts/890mb respectively. Halong is now the strongest storm of 2019 even beating out Dorian.
