    A1: Teacher leaders need feedback. We can give them feedback after they lead a meeting or professional development experience. And they can give each other feedback as well. The key is to schedule the time for it to happen.

    Our school admin started Workshop Wednesdays. Teachers who have a skill, lesson, etc to share is given a sub for the day, and teaches the other teachers all day during their preps. It's nice to see that admin believe in their staff and value their skills.

  3. A1: Look beyond strategies specific to education: fierce conversations (colleagues/parents/students), effective meetings (team leader role/aspiring admin), mindset training (patience with self/others). All of these are “becoming is better than being” kinds of tools.

    We can help teacher leaders to build their skills by making the big picture available to them. Seeing impacts from a classroom lens is many times different than a school wide perspective.

    A1: For young teachers especially, I think there is this myth that you have to "put your years in" before you can be considered a leader. Specifically telling people who you see exhibiting leadership skills encouraging them as leaders can go a long way!

    A2: Teacher leaders need to attend conferences, but not just about teaching...about leading. The leadership conference is a great example.

    Yes ... we have 2 ears and 1 mouth for reason :P ... You can't go somewhere new unless you know where you are (otherwise, you could be heading where you already are?)

    A1 Teacher Leaders need to maintain the curiosity for learning -- always wanting to improve - organizing time and space - loyalty & feedback

  17. A1: Willingness to learn! As a teacher leader you are looked at by both admin and teachers. Showing your willingness to learn opens up colleagues to take that chance and shows admin you are constantly growing your craft!
