my fav Canvas hacks are making javascripts work there even though I don't have any special admin privileges. I'm guessing similar hacks are possible for other LMSes! Twitter javascript widgets: more javascript widgets: :-)

IMO we must stop letting decide what we can (or can't) do. online course design must be more than using LMS features. by using LMS to pull rug out from under itself. for example: hand Gradebook over to the students!

yes yes yes, it is IDEAL for discussion posts or anything where you can use a checklist based on objective elements (word length, included image, included link, whatever you set as min. requirements)... I call them Declarations. it's my best true/false quiz, 1 question.

so I was wondering the other day, have you (or any other folks) used Chamilo? It's open source, so should be pretty hack-able. Just curious! (I played with it awhile back, but ultimately didn't have the time to manage it myself.)

Dr. Chuck to the rescue!!! luckily, I don't want or need the LMS to do my teaching online; Instructure is not learning anything of value about my students because they are not doing anything in there Instructure can use. but if you want/need LMS features, OUCH

I'm always glad to brainstorm and help where I can. I use the amazing to manage my blog network and have the blog posts appear in Canvas like that. I really like being able to tell my students: look, there's you post! it's the Canvas blog invasion. :-) :-)

here's that same post yet again in new context: right there in Canvas, where students can view live blog stream for their course; HTML export of incoming RSS feeds can go anywhere that iframe is accepted, and iframe is the way to get the real web into the LMS

whoo-hoo, it's Week 4. students have been blogging for a month and now they are making websites for their semester projects! 25 websites are up and running already, with many more to come by Monday. I use slideshows to feature the sites in Canvas:
