Millennials, unions &
#SinglePayer activists aren’t the only ones fed up w/#CorporateDems. At#CADem2018 CA Alliance for Retired Americans called for 6 HOUSE DEMS TO BE CENSURED! 12 Dems helped Repubs pass#HR620: allows businesses to discriminate against people w/disabilities pic.twitter.com/anDhRcmgsVShow this thread -
225 reps decided I don’t deserve to access the same spaces as non-disabled folks. The emotional pain ebbs away for a bit but then it comes back with full force. Feeling unwanted by this world hurts.

These are the
#CorporateDems that voted w/ Republicans to gut the#ADA. Businesses won’t bother with making their facilities accessible, marginalizing people with disabilities even more. Half of the Dems to vote for#HR620 were from CA! The American people are done with#DINOspic.twitter.com/YRyCdUM2b0

Let me try to Able-speak
#HR620: You’re in a class & the professor told you every assignment since the beginning, but you refused to do any of them. Would you be surprised if you failed? So, after 30 years of ADA, why are businesses shocked they need to accommodate dis ppl? -
We can still stop the
#Senate from voting on#HR620 which the House already narrowly approved and which curtails the rights of#disabled people as set forth under the#ADA--Americans with Disabilities Act. We need your voices! Please call. 202-224-3121pic.twitter.com/vZiwOS4sLK

Imagine you had to beg every business to allow you to exist. Imagine people complaining about 'nuisance lawsuits' and 'support peacocks' to you. Your existence is a nuisance. Your existence is over legislated. Your existence is unnecessary. Now call your damn senators.

Finally, some great news!
Sen. Duckworth was able to secure 42 Democratic votes against H.R 620, insuring it would be filibustered if brought to a vote on the Senate floor. #ADA#HR620 https://archpaper.com/2018/04/rollback-americans-with-disabilities-act-stalled/ … -

As America focused on another school massacre yesterday House Republicans used the distraction to pass

“H.R. 620 will just make it easier for recalcitrant business owners to avoid the nuisance (read, expense) of providing equal access.” Important read from
@architectmag on why#HR620 is so dangerous#SaveTheADAhttps://twitter.com/architectmag/status/974208587420635136 … -
Exactly. We should be expanding the ADA, not gutting it.

A good thread with an example of why the ADA needs stronger enforcement, not less. Contact your senators about
#HR620! And if your rep voted for it in the House (like mine), let them know how angry and disappointed you are. Midterms are coming. https://twitter.com/MortuaryReport/status/965069787771559936 … -
Thread on why the
#ADA needs to be expanded, not rolled back.#HandsOffMyADA#HR620 I live just outside a pretty big city. Its semi-rural-ish. Which means not very regular bus service.Show this thread -
Anyone in congress who voted to gut the
#ADA by passing#HR620 hoping they all lose re-election in the primaries#CripTheVote -
Peninsula folks, your rep
@JackieSpeier was one of 12 Dems who voted for#HR620 this week to limit disability rights. Please call her at 650-342-0300 and tell her how angry you are! pic.twitter.com/x2neT39Kni

I remember being naive af couple of years ago and wondering: “Where did
#HR620 come from?! Who would hate on the ADA??” And now I know... it came from everywhere
-
Now imagine how much worse, more hostile, the world will be if every target of discrimination had to ask each business, in writing, one at a time, to please not break the law. And they have 90 days to ignore them. And another 180 after that. Every restaurant. Every store.
