its almost funny how these legislators are prime examples of why #HB3979 cannot become law! they are literally unable to read the bills they author, engage in critical thought, and derive logical conclusions of their impact. like, it would be so funny if it wasn’t terrifying.

Spoke out against #HB3979 this evening, a bill that would prevent teachers from providing students with a comprehensive civic education. We should support teachers as they develop thoughtful, civically engaged students instead of restricting their ability to do their job.

Here’s a radical thought: why don’t we TRUST teachers fo act like professionals and take their roles as influencers of our children seriously? No teacher that I know has ever tried to push their personal beliefs on a student. We want them to develop their own beliefs. #HB3979

This is the type of censorship that we feared would happen when #HB3979/#SB3 were passed. This is another coordinated attack by the right to whitewash history and not put students at the center of their learning #TeachtheTruth #txlege (1/2)
