    10 years today suffered a double engine failure after takeoff. With only seconds to make critical decisions & FO Jeff Skiles landed on the Hudson, saving all on board. It truly shows the importance of the meticulous training pilots go through.

    Ten years later, these are the things that stay with me: the professionalism of the crew and air traffic controllers, the cooperation of passengers, the bravery of the rescuers and first responders, and the enduring love of my family, and I celebrate them every day.

    I know firsthand New Yorkers always try to save every life, just as my crew and passengers did on . They rushed to our rescue on Jan. 15, 2009 when we touched down on the Hudson. Lorrie and I send our support to the citizens of NY, NJ and all Americans in this fight.

    When I first read the story of , this was the part that gave me goosebumps. The clear, controlled (and understood) instruction. No ego, no histrionics, just a previously agreed action that in the event of emergency the captain would take responsibility

    I took control of the aircraft as Jeff and I completed verbatim the important transfer of aircraft control protocol: 15:27:23 Me: “My aircraft.” 15:27:24 Jeff: “Your aircraft.”

    10 years ago, US Airways 1549 took a detour on its way from LGA to CLT, landing in the Hudson River when both engines failed after ingesting Canada geese. Thanks to the crew, local water taxis, and first responders, all 155 on board were rescued safely.

    My January 10, 2004. My hero pilot was my father. Our engine died while 6,000 feet in the air. We walked away with cuts and bruises, and I lived to pursue my dream of becoming a mother just 4 years later.
