    The forced landing of Ryanair flight by Belarus is unacceptable. Tomorrow’s European Council must give a clear & unequivocal message. Roman Protasevich must be immediately released. We have to consider sanctions, including banning Belavia from landing in EU airports.

    We strongly condemn any interference or requirement for landing of civil aviation operations that is inconsistent with the rules of international law. Details of the event with flight are not clear. A full investigation by competent international authorities is needed.

    A Ryanair flight from Athens to Vilnius, diverted to Minsk in Belarus earlier today. According to reports in media a Belarus journalist, that was onboard the flight, was arrested after the diversion to Minsk.

    So basically today, a polish registered Ryanair B738 SP-RSM has been forced to land in Minsk, a passenger taken off the flight and arrested because of their views regarding the government. 5 hours later the aircraft is still on the ground.
