    Very cool to see fan art being recognized as art!

    I'm proud today to announce that Kathleen Palmer, a senior from Shawnee High School in Medford, is the winner of the Congressional Art Competition from our district. Her artwork, which you can see below, will now be displayed in the U.S. Capitol.

    I never understood this idea of fan art being a bad practice. Doing fan art was what motivated me to learn how to draw and eventually create my own characters. It taught me the principles of good character design.

    I don’t care if it’s fanart, if it shows design, vision, and good technique.
