SANITARY PADS should be free, CONDOM should be sold. Sex is a choice, menstruation is a must.

I noticed during examination that about 50% of women that came for consultation per day in an O&G clinic used rags for menstruation. The poverty level in Nigeria has increased and some women can't afford pads!

Menstruating is not a choice for females; it’s a necessity. They deal with a lot of things as a result of this natural process. Exorbitant pad price does not have to be one.

I encourage everyone to join this movement, together we can

Sanitary articles for babies, stationery articles, basic food items, commercial vehicles, magazines, etc (necessities and luxuries) are VAT exempt. It doesn't make any sense the tax on sanitary pads (necessities).

I've never had menstrual cramps or pain in my life, but the day I witnessed my friend's own I was moved to tears. She was rolling on the floor, groaning in pains just because of a debt(menstruation) we must pay monthly. Pls help us

Personally, I've always felt odd when I see NGOs give out free condoms and this isn't entirely connected to my religion. Sex is a choice, menstruation isn't!The best the government can do is to
#End9jaTaxOnPads so females can have access to this necessity at a reduced cost. -
If not 4 anything because of the young girl on the street that feed only once a day...,

I think it's hightime we talked about the high cost of sanitary pads and it's health implication on the 84 million Nigerians who cannot boast of making 720 Naira each day.

Emancipation of women starts with good hygiene. There are millions of girls and women who resort to unhygienic alternatives to sanitary pads due to the high costs of pads. Menstruation is not optional but taxes are!

I’ve seen young girls use soaked tissue paper for a whole day during their periods,...because their parent couldn’t afford sanitary pad and they have to use 1pack of tissue for that month! They don’t deserve to live like this
#End9jaTaxOnPads -
As for me, I think public toilets should have sanitary pads in them just like tissue and hand wash.

I can still remember the panic the raise in price of pads caused in most ladies. From #150-200 to #350-400 for Always pad.

It is so difficult to bleed monthly in pain and still have to pay higher price for maintain the pain.

Thank you for reading. I do apologise sincerely to anyone who either felt I should have totally ignored these issues, or felt I should have done better in one way or the other, or who I may have offended long before now but the wounds are fresh somehow. Thanks

It would mean the world to me if this hashtag brought a change. These days, I don't just battle with period anxiety, I go around searching for cheaper brands of pads. It's really unfair.
