At one point i had a breeding pair of bolivian rams, but the same tank had tetras that would eat the babies so i never got to raise them. Unfortunately the tank was heavily planted with live plants and had driftwood everywhere so i could never net out the babies or parents.

Animals eat one another alive. Plants poison one another. Birds eat the babies of other birds. Mice and cats, monkeys, prairie dogs, and bears (even the mothers) eat their young.

algae overgrowth can be easily fixed by turning the light off overnight and letting the shrimp do the cleanup. as for bettas, they're a pretty aggressive fish and will eat the babies and maim the shrimp. with a tank this size you'd be better off doing just shrimp imho.

Well of course. We can’t just eat the babies whole. Some of us use a food processor to keep it chunky like salsa.
