    It might, I think, be worth doing a non-silly piece on Dyspraxia, because whilst I play it down at all times & never mention it, generally, laughing at my own expense etc, it does affect day-to-day living, & I'm tenacious, so I will bowl through regardless.

    Tip for today: Visual timetables can make a real difference to remembering what to do and when for children and young people with executive functioning challenges. .

    Sometimes with I hate going through changes. It takes long to adapt and it can be very overwhelming too. 😕

    Twice in the past week, I’ve had parents say that their dyspraxic child can ski better than they can walk. My guess is that all the added sensory input (cold, wind, brightness, crunch) increases coordination. If only I could make it snow in the motor room 😂

    Looking back it’s so silly but in the moment those things can be really stressful! It’s something I never feel comfortable going into much detail about as to be completely honest it can be embarrassing but what I wrote in my blog a while back explains it a bit ⬇️

    3/3 it is quite literally dehumanising. Me and others face unique challenges because our brains are differen.We aren’t animals, burdens, inconveniences, embarrassments or need ‘managing’ *dyspraxic mic drop*(makes a change from a coffee cup)

    So here’s my pledge: I’m not going to be writing about deficits and difficulties in my reports. Motor coordination differences and associated executive function differences are just that - differences. Not less. Not broken.

    Just casually driving home from work trying to control my car from the 50mph winds whilst trying to coordinate my speed, my hands on the wheel and my gear stick 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 resulted in me completely missing my turn off & adding 20 minutes on my journey 🤣

    While there is no answer to what causes , current research suggests that the nerve cells that control muscles (motor neurons) do not develop correctly, which results in the taking longer to process data.
