It was brilliant to speak to the Sunday Mirror about why we need to and urgently invest in eating disorder services! Thank you and Jodie for sharing your story! And for sharing your thoughts.

Great to see MPs support scrapping BMI for eating disorder treatment. But access issues extend way beyond this. My BMI was ‘too low’ for treatment initially & later I was discharged (struggling & at low BMI) as had completed treatment. Without funding - futile.

Why does everything have to revolve around numbers, weight, BMI and calories. I want to scream... my Daughter is more than a NUMBER. The NICE guidelines need to change

This boy is my daughters motivation for change, he is her support & grounding. She says he is her reason for wanting to recover, I am so happy as she has never said this before. 💙

In the UK I’ve never been underweight “enough” to receive NHS treatment. Yet I was fainting on a daily basis and ended up in A&E a few times. Private treatment is what saved me - and continues to save me.

If your self esteem is built on/ or indeed destroyed by a number on a set of scales, please think again, it is a very sad and precarious way to measure your self worth.

It’s 2 years to the day since and I took to Downing Street, yet still services are underfunded, diagnoses are missed, vulnerable people suffer. News of Nikki’s death is so painful, I hope all those suffering have people to speak to. I can be one.

have no body type. That’s why I talk. For 5 years, I thought I didn’t deserve help bc of my BMI. At 16, my GP said it’s not an issue. At 18, my dad said, “If you had a problem you’d be thin”. To everyone out there, you’re more than a number.

Great to see and on tonight. ❤ Such an important issue. Once eating disorders take hold, they are incredibly hard to reverse. Often they can't be. Early intervention, outreach and re-engagement at whatever weight is absolutely essential.

Time for change. BMI is an unsuitable measurement and prevents lots of people from getting the support they need due to being considered not skinny enough

Feels like an appropriate retweet for today! If it wasn’t for my amazing GP taking me seriously at a healthy weight, I could well have not made it to the assessment in the first place. Eating disorders have no look and no weight

Mid-relapse I've asked a GP for help and been sent away (BMI too high) with a leaflet about gaining weight for cancer patients. Seriously. is doing amazing work on fixing this and it’s great to see making waves - everyone should support the campaign!

  16. I reckon they should remove the bmi below 17.5 as an indicator. For most people, if bmi has gone below 17.5 they should have received ed support much earlier anyway. It just reenforces the misconception that you have to be underweight to have an .

Lockdown has created the perfect storm for those with eating disorders which is why we cannot afford to wait any longer to end the injustices for accessing treatment. Professionally & personally, this is why I am supporting campaign & encourage you to do the same!

Who else has written "BMI is in fact a poor indicator of overall health" or similar in an academic work. ✋✋✋ We have better indicators of health and disease risk 👏
