One of my favorites - the robe à la française! This example is void of superfluous trimmings and the basic ruffles are the same bright canary as the rest of the dress. Stunning example of c1760 fashion. Bright, airy, and refreshing!

It’s been cold, dreary, and snowy the past few days & this c1891 Emile Pignat mantle is fun, fashionable, & warm. The shortened back would fit beautifully over the fashionable bustle silhouette of the era.

My favourite era of
#DressHistory for women is the 1860s. The cage crinoline, for all its impracticalities, can also be seen as liberating women from the cumbersome weight of numerous petticoats worn in the 1850s. The fall of a full skirt over the crinoline is a thing of beauty. pic.twitter.com/Yz02PahBqa

This one is for the stylish nerds. A sweet little book bag with floral raffia embroidery - designed to hold your current read on the go. From the

I’m hoping to get a course going
@UofGlasgow on Scottish#textile and#dresshistory but am struggling on the name (good start eh?). Do I go more poetic or for a ‘what it says on the tin’ approach? Votes welcome! -
Did some recent research on this little number. I believe it is called a Vyshyvanka. It had a tag attached to it that I couldn’t read. Bless modern technology.

Okay
#twitterstorians! I have another ethnographic dress mystery! Any ideas or suggestions relating to provenance? There is no hood attached and from what I can tell, a minimal collar of any. I apologize in advance for the poor pictures, I was limited on space.#dresshistory pic.twitter.com/cZrZUyyVxb

Today we looked at some exquisite darning/sewing samplers from the late 19th/early 20thC in the
@MuseumofLondon dress & textile store, in prep for a workshop coming next year. If you are interesting in mends & repairs - stay tuned!#slowfashion#mending#dresshistory pic.twitter.com/W9FXvBBqXB

Thicc gals pulling through in the
#dresshistory community! Love being able to see 18th century dress in my size. I would have rocked this during the French Revolution

Great morning today with
@SallyTuckett introducing this year’s#dresshistory students to the Scottish National Portrait Gallery and discussing the pros and cons of paintings as sources.
