    This quote broke me. The police knew was in mental health crisis. They did not help, they laughed. They killed him anyway. This extrajudicial murder is rooted in racism & ableism. Like

    They’re not always armed. Sometimes they’re naked in the rain on the street at night. Anyway, once they have a knife, the priority is de-escalation, not wondering how they got a knife.

    Your daily reminder that mental illness is not a crime and those who are having mental health emergencies should not be treated as criminals. should be alive today. So should , and countless others.

    Walter’s mother called 911 for HELP during her son's MENTAL HEALTH crisis. Instead, police SHOT & KILLED him in broad daylight! This says a lot about the lack of consideration for mentally ill people, and officers neglect to use de-escalation tactics!!

    I’m just trying to clarify here... bc I’ve seen many opinions and the number one is “but he charged him with a knife, which is a deadly weapon”... so, I ask, what about ? He had no weapon; just spit and nudity. Apparently, being mentally ill is a death sentence too.
