    The problem is with piece-meal tax reform, following big rise in marginal tax rates in previous budget (& slow rise of cesses & surcharges earlier). That's why is so important for stimulating MSME growth(including its financing)

    If DDT is removed from one tax paying entity to another, it makes no sense. Removal means removal, not transfer from one taxpayer to another. Long term capital gains tax was reintroduced by Arun Jaitley in 2018, 14 years after it was abolished. It should have been scrapped by FM.

    I call bollocks on the govts claim that they would forego ₹40k Cr under the new tax regime. The Panel reco which would have given more savings to tax payers had the same outgo. And that was a simpler, efficient structure.
