    I was born in Chicago in 1997. I have attended nothing but Chicago public schools. I have never been stabbed by anyone but I did see my cousin get his arm broken by a police officer for being funny in the hallway though.

    Interestingly this summer I spoke to a lot of young Black police officers who only became cops because they needed a job w benefits! Lori, create better jobs rooted in care —not positions for people with toolkits limited to guns and handcuffs.

    "...if we cut current jobs, we would be compelled to cut the youngest, most diverse and well trained officers in the department. That is not in anyone’s interest."
