My Grandfather, Stewart Peppin, Cdn 1st Division. D-Day+4 Juno Beach. Faced the dreaded Panzer Division, losing more than 1/3 of his comrades to take Caen, which opened Europe to the Allies. He liberated Belgium, seeing some of the fiercest fighting at Scheldt.

"The enemy is before us, behind us, and on our flanks; the only safe place is the target." On December 14, 1943, with only 15 men and 3 tanks remaining, Captain Paul Triquet continued his advance. His sense of duty and leadership earned him the Victoria Cross.

Canadian soldier George Price was killed minutes before the armistice on 11 November 1918. His family was invited by the city of Mons and received a commemorative watch made by a jeweler. A superb moment to witness!
