  6. Opabinia regalis, everyone’s favourite Cambrian oddball. It was probably most closely related to Pambdelurion and Kerygmachela. Here, I have depicted it with an updated eye organization, which I’ll explain below.

    A stunning trilobite, Bristolia insolens, from Frenchman Mountain near Las Vegas, Nevada. The mountain provides an example of the Great Unconformity with the tilted Paleozoic Tapeats Sandstone underlain by Paleoproterozoic Vishnu Schist. Collection of York Yuxi Wang.

    A stunning Cambrian trilobite, Bristolia insolens, from Frenchman Mountain near Las Vegas, Nevada. The mountain provides an example of the Great Unconformity with the tilted Paleozoic Tapeats Sandstone underlain by Paleoproterozoic Vishnu Schist. It boasts some of the oldest rock on the North American continent, at about two billion years old. This spectacular specimen is in the collection of York Yuxi Wang. It is about 4-5cm long; 3-4cm wide. #paleontology #fossil #cambrian #trilobite #nevada

    A rocky beach on Baltica, during the Cambrian period. Isoxys, a small arthropod, swims near the surface searching for preys.

    A new euarthropod with large frontal appendages from the early Chengjiang biota

  15. Pseudoangustidontus duplospineus, the most obscure (probably) Anomalocarid that has a name. It is probably closely related to Aegirocassis, and came from the same Formation (the Fezouata) and is only known from its frontal appendages.

    Earliest claimed evidence of parasitism in the fossil record (early Cambrian). Brachiopods covered by tubes that would have made use of feeding currents of host. . Much more on fossil parasites later this year!😀

    The Cambrian Coast Express at Aberystwyth 4/8/86. Large Logo Blue livery British Rail Class 37 diesel loco 37430 'Cwmbran' looks superb with headboard & Blue/Grey Mk2 aircon coaches. 🤓
