    In summary, this leatherback was an adult male in negative nutritional condition- with evidence of live stranding, possible urinary tract infection, and minor debris burden in the intestinal tract. Follow up tests pending.

    Our team yesterday carried out a necropsy on the whale which was found dead in the Thames last Friday. Sei whales are rarely found stranded in the UK, with only 7 found in the last 30 years. We found no evidence of significant injury or ingested plastics. (1/2)
