first they vote for assisted death for disabled people where death isn't foreseeable. and now they vote for a #Canadadisabilitybenefit that excludes disabled seniors & disability related costs that promises to leave 100s of thousands in abject poverty without our #CRPD rights.

charter says province sets eligibility 4 govt charity / 'welfare' /"income of last resort" @liberal_party had @planinstitute's @Disability_WP silence #disabled & any talk of the #CRPD +Guessing @NDP @CanadianGreens @partiquebecois had deal w liberals? 2 sell us. #CdnPoli #PWD twitter.com/Victor_Lees/st…
Since the NDP Green and Parti Quebecois have never been allies of disabled Canadians ... even thirty pieces of silver would have been an excessive payment for betraying us.
Funny that. Accessibility is a precondition 4 persons w disabilities 2 live independently & participate fully & equally in society. & Canadian Govts r obligated by int'l law 2 implement that right (#CRPD #Article9) but haven't. There is no CRPD right to accessibility in Canada.

I find this to be a very unfair blanket statement. It’s far more likely that policy planners are reactive to climate activists and then failing to consider pwd in response. I don’t know a single climate activist who wouldn’t be thrilled to increase accessible infrastructure.

its truly revolting the way partisans lobby for their party while undermining disability rights. The #CanadaDisabilityBenefit is not enough. Where is our #CRPD #Article28 right to an adequate standard of living & social protection? Shelly is no advocate except of course 4 shelly
I have the right to an adequate standard of living and social protection including adequate food clothing and housing. BC Disability caucus

the point of the #crpd is to ensure #disabled people have the same #HumanRights as everyone else .. a lack of being able to access the community, school, work, arts, culture & sports... unable to be free of violence & abuse. A bit of charity is no compensation 4 having no rights

The U.N. was basically saying that they objected to Maid changes because Canada was not providing adequate supports and incomes. They were shocked by the poverty. They felt ppl wud b funneled to Maid due to lack of supports. If it was fixed Then maybe they wud b ok with it.
