    Since ice crystallizes at 109.5 degree angles, the only way to see a 12-branched snowflake is two flakes fusing together early in the nucleation. The center shows thin-film interference creating rainbows. From this am! @wxtwitter

    There will be snow (2-5”) tomorrow during the AM rush hour, so you know the routine: Make sure your tires have good tread, drive slowly & give the same amount of room to nearby cars that the gave to with 7 seconds left to get to FG range.

    Snow will develop by midnight along the northern border, then move into the Denver area by 6 am. Expect a slow morning commute as travel will get slick as the roads become snow covered. The snow will taper off from north to south in the afternoon.

    The remarkable snowband in eastern Colorado and western Kansas on Tuesday yielded reports of over 2 feet of snow in a narrow swath! At the Burlington cooperative observer station, the 19" total was the 3rd largest snowstorm on record.

    The Texan urge to go spin around outside when the snow starts flying. Probably helps that I don't have to do live shots or anything out here. I don't see anyone else in Denver do this so I'm wondering if the excitement just goes away after awhile 🤔

    Today will be dry but another quick-moving system will bring snow to our area on Thursday. Snow amounts will generally be light (1-3") although a couple spots could pick up higher amounts under heavier snow bands. Expect some impacts to travel.

    A low pressure system will move across Colorado on Thursday producing light snow mainly across the I-25 corridor, foothills, and northern mountains. Snowfall estimates are 1-3" for the I-25 corridor, 1-5" in the foothills and northern mountains, and a trace to an inch across the far eastern plains.
