    This whole thread - a year of - is phenomenal, but this tweet broke my heart. The crushing 2nd wave (which killed my mother) was at least partly preventable. By September, we knew how to prevent transmission but, enticed by libertarian ideology, we ignored the evidence.

    October brought the madness of the ‘Great Barrington Declaration’. We watched COVID denial gather pace with anxious fascination. A 2nd wave was inevitable but we assumed it would be small. It began in October. We thought we had the measure of it…. 13/22
