Comet C/2019 Q4 Borisov from AIRA/Berthelot Observatory on September 13th. Total exposure time: 44 minutes.

An ! Yesterday I was able to photograph only the second such object ever identified. So far as I can tell, this is one of, if not the smallest aperture observation made. 😉 Backyard FTW!

  3. 12. ruj 2019.

Another confirmed object also known as spotted by an independent Gennady Borisov. More detail here:

Inbound 3 au from the Sun, C/2019 Q4 is moving 42 km/s with respect to the Sun, whereas an Oort cloud comet such as comet Elenin would only be moving 24 km/s when 3 au from the Sun.

Here is hyperbolic comet C/2019 Q4's path through the sky. Its size is exaggerated.

  7. Early results are in from observations of the interstellar comet The object resembles comets from our Solar System despite having been "born" around another star

  8. 14. ruj 2019.

First visible light spectrum of interstellar comet Borisov, looking similar to solar system comets.

  9. The first-ever comet from beyond our Solar System has been successfully imaged by the in multiple colors. The image of the newly discovered object, denoted (Borisov), was obtained on the night of 9-10 September

  10. (Borisov) seems to be an interstellar traveler. It apparently has a hyperbolic trajectory. That would make two such visitors in two years – suggesting that there really are gazillions of these things sailing silently through space.

Bizarre comet from another star system just spotted Discovered by an amateur astronomer, the inbound object is only the second of its kind yet detected 📚 🔭 (Borisov)

In interstellar space C/2019 Q4 takes roughly 9000 years to travel a light-year.

Interstellar comet 2I/Borisiv aka was imaged again this morning and showed a little coma and a tail. more:

This is how new interstellar comet compares to . Its velocity is a lot higher and orbit is a lot more hyperbolic.

  16. A newly discovered has excited the astronomical community this week because it appears to have originated from outside the solar system. The new comet, , is still inbound toward the Sun, at about 93,000 mph [150,000 kph].

  17. Comet is now officially interstellar, as from its name. We called it for a while . We captured a new image, showing some coma. More ->

If you were to ask Borisov (guy who found the comet) a question, what would it be? I may have found a way to get in touch with him

  19. 12. ruj 2019.

Busy day, but I‘ve found some time to set up interstellar visitor (Borisov) and exoplanet in the planetarium. We can now visit both in our live shows.😊
