    Today's honoree for is Carolyn Beatrice Parker. Ms. Parker is the first African American woman known to have gained a postgraduate degree in physics. Her legacy has inspired generations of African American women in physics.

    In 1864, Rebecca Crumpler became the first African-American female physician, and a pioneer. CHANGING THE EQUATION celebrates black women in STEM who are blazing a trail for future generations.

    Friendly reminder that actions speak louder than words. Science is all about observation. You can say all the right things when confronted, but remember that I see you and feel the vibes you put out towards me.

  10. This is awesome! Note however this is mostly (entirely?) academic scientists. Would be awesome to accrue list of non academic and tech industry gurus

    Completely humbled and honored to have been recognized as a “Rising Star” Scientist in celebration of – along with so many incredible other scientists. Representation matters and it’s imperative we are seen!

  13. Really appreciate being included in this list AND I want STEM faculty to look through the last 25 people — rising stars — and see if someone is a fit for a faculty hire in your department ✊🏽 Hire !!!

    Today’s honoree for is Dr. Carl Rouse. Dr. Rouse was the first African American to be a career professional astrophysics researcher. His legacy ensures continued growth of underrepresented groups in astrophysics research.
