    I'm not sure how others are feeling, but I've found this summer intolerable. Canberra has been baked and battered. It truly feels like the end of days and it's doing my head in. I'm fearful for others who have faced much worse. Is everyone OK?

  7. The Orroral Valley fire is now over 1800 ha in size, 16 km from Tharwa. Still at watch and act with lots of firefighting resources on site. Hope firies stay safe. Sad day for Namadgi. Image:Kez Kelly

  13. These silver dribbles? They’re solid metal. The heat from the fire at Yowrie literally melted the bottom out of this car. Glass has melted too... that means temps of around 1400 degrees. It’s difficult to fathom.

    Too close for comfort 11pm and the fires are creeping towards the suburbs conditions declining today

  15. This is 5yo Layla whose home near Cobargo burned down on New Year’s Eve. She’s due to start school this week. Volunteers built her family this two bedroom cabin with donated materials, to tide them over until they get back on their feet.
