  13. 50 years ago right now, Apollo 15 lunar module Falcon landed on the surface of the Moon. A few hours later, astronaut Dave Scott performed a short stand-up EVA, with his upper body extended through the top hatch of the LM, and took this photo.

  19. 50 years ago today, the Apollo 15 mission came to an end as command module Endeavour returned to Earth and splashed down in the Pacific Ocean. One of the three parachutes failed to open fully, so descent velocity was 2.8 mph faster than planned.
