@WoodardColin applies his fascinating#AmericanNations map of cultural regionalism to last 3 presidential elections. The urban-rural divide may not explain it all, but it's hugely important in the Northeast and upper Midwest, vital states for Democrats https://nyti.ms/2NWPJlzShow this thread -

I love how I can see
@WoodardColin’s#AmericanNations in other maps. E.g. the cropland belt from Ohio to Iowa that fans out in the plains vs Woodward’s Midlands. Look especially at Kansas! https://twitter.com/jakubmarian/status/1055089608889917440 … -

Just finished
#AmericanNations by@WoodardColin and loved it! Frustrated by politcial and cultural divisions in America? This book explains so much of it. Interesting to see how even Indiana (heck, even my family) is divided up along these lines.pic.twitter.com/XdTTfEc310

Reading American Nations: A History of the Eleven Rival Regional Cultures of North America by Collin Woodard. It is deed historical analysis. My thought is that you cannot divide what is not divisible.
