    I haven't seen any threats on Twitter, just A LOT of criticism. Could it be that Cummins and/or Flatiron Books don't want to deal with protesters? Do they want to avoid being asked tough questions about the book and these barbed wire centerpieces?

    For the 30 yrs. I've been writing about Latino issues, I've been subjected to constant 'vitriol' and ethnic hatred from 'readers.' (As have most Latinx writers). Not once has any institution I worked for stepped forward to defend me against racism

    Okay, so.... here's the one thing with the discourse that bugs me. Everyone keeps saying that this STARTED or sparked the conversation about the problems in publishing. This erases decades of work by BIPOC, particularly WoC, ESPECIALLY Black women.
