    Amazon is helping ICE target and arrest undocumented family members trying to claim unaccompanied children. As a result, more and more children are being forced into detention centers.

    We recently revealed that ICE used Palantir software (built on AWS/Amazon servers) to target and arrest family members of children who crossed the border alone. ICE arrested 443 people in that operation alone. More on that here:

    As we see with Fort Sill—which imprisoned Indigenous peoples and Japanese immigrants before becoming a detention camp for immigrant children today—once there is a framework for incarceration, it will be reused & repurposed to inflict further harm.

    Q7 This brings us to abolition. Why is abolition our goal? Why is ensuring that & stop providing tech to ICE an integral part of an abolitionist vision and in line with the movement?

    In 2018 ICE held more than 42K people in custody—the highest number since 2001. ICE deported *over 250K* last year—the highest number EVER. Tech giants like must be held accountable for their ties to ICE’s deportation machine:

    Many of these current detention camps are at or near former Japanese American incarceration sites. Fort Sill, OK and Lordsburg, NM—where 7yo Jakelin Caal died in Border Patrol earlier this year—were both prison camps for Japanese immigrants during WWII.

    The largest family detention camp in the country, at Dilley, TX, is just 40 miles from Crystal City, the “family reunification” camp where Issei men arrested by the FBI at the start of WWII were detained with their families after years of separation.

    Instead of funding ICE, CBP, Trump's concentration camps, and as Pelosi has done, we'd rather Congress invest in the needs of the American people. , the , and reviving federal spending on affordable housing are all better options.
