    day (again) today after the algorithm debacle in Aug. Rather than accepting the cards she was dealt, my niece chose to resit. Her results today were A*AAA. There are no words to articulate how proud I am of her: she’s off to Med school in 2021.

    day today. My niece was predicted straight As and got ABBB in her mocks. She had an offer to study medicine at - what results does she come out with? BBBC 🧐🤨 needless to say we have spent the whole day consoling her. So so unfair. .

    I can’t believe that only 16% of students have accurate predicted grades 😱 Clearly the system we have in the UK of using predicted grades is unreliable. After the scandal this summer, I think it’s about time we change the system!

    Is the UK's reliance on predicted grades reinforcing existing inequalities for young people applying to university? 🎓 & speak to Dr about whether it's time for an overhaul of this broken system...

    So incredibly proud of my workplace for coming out with a clear statement so quickly after yesterday’s news, reassuring students of their stance. They have been working non-stop to ensure parity and equality as best as possible in these strange times.

    Following the UK government announcement on revised and , the University is delighted to honour all existing offers on all programmes that do not have an externally determined cap (eg Medicine) for 2020 entry. (1/6)

    That we’re even talking about the fiasco as a tech issue, and allowing/encouraging the government to do so, makes us look like mediaeval peasants in superstitious awe of the written word... this was a system of rules set by exam moderators, not even the programmers

    👏There's 👏no 👏such👏 thing 👏as👏 "mutant algorithms"👏 Algorithms are designed and constructed! To suggest they mutate is to suggest that they are somehow unknown, and therefore that the government is somehow blameless for failing in its responsibilities.

    I’m fiercely proud of for leading the way with our approach on

    We've contacted the small number of school leavers who missed out on the A-level entry requirements for our non-degree programmes, and offered them the chance to join us as higher apprentices. We think this is the right thing to do as all had passed our assessments. 1/2

    It takes Johnson more than a week to tweet about this, an event of moderate-to-major global significance. Similarly more than a week to comment on , a major national crisis. And about 3 hours to comment on song lyrics. Do. Your. Goddamn. Job. You. Jackass.

    The poisoning of Alexey shocked the world. The UK stands in solidarity with him & his family. We need a full, transparent investigation into what happened. The perpetrators must be held accountable & the UK will join international efforts to ensure justice is done.
