    I cannot stop thinking about this. “We called for an ambulance but on arrival the paramedics upon learning that she was HIV positive, refused to take her to hospital. She died 40 minutes later.”

    This is beyond sad. Our thoughts are with her loved ones and those who knew her. Unfortunately, stigma is alive and well. We MUST continue to fight against it.

    From to now , it’s clear EMTs are capable of murdering trans women. Unlike other cases where police/abusive guys MAKE them die, EMTs exercise the power to LET girls die. It’s not just cops, it’s the whole damn social totality.

    Alejandra Monocuco was a Black trans sex worker in Colombia who died after paramedics allegedly refused to take her to a hospital when they learned she was HIV+.  Her death has become a symbol for protests in Bogotá.

    Regardless of Alejandra”s illness of HIV and possible Covid 19 symptoms they should still treat a human being with proper professionally trained care especially if they’re real paramedics! Unacceptable..

    This is why the fight for Black Trans lives globally is essential, to be denied by the ambulance because you’re HIV+ is inhumane! If the fight continues to be focused solely on racism, avoiding intersectionality, then other modes of white supremacy will persist
