Martin Shapland, the man who lied to get Alastair Stewart sacked, is himself exposed as an anti-white bigot. None of which helps !

  2. must be the first person ever to be sacked for quoting Shakespeare. It was plainly pricking the bubble of man's pride: the ape/man analogy is about God's image, not race. Are we really returning to bowdlerisation to avoid giving offence?

It turns out the chap who got Alastair Stewart sacked has quite a track record of playing the race card. Come on ITN, admit you got this one badly wrong by appeasing the 'woke' mob. Apologise to Alastair and give him his job back.

“He’s just quoting Shakespeare” ok but that doesn’t make it right with all respect due to great writer. You can quote Quentin Tarantino to call me the n word 10,000 times and that doesn’t make it ok. Quoting doesn’t absolve people.

  5. So Martin Shapland is quite the racist I see! He has an issue with white people. Alastair Stewart shouldn't have lost his job in the first place as he did nothing wrong, but now reading these tweets it makes Alastair's sacking even more wrong.

I'm deeply saddened ALASTAIR STEWART, such a pillar of decency, fair-mindedness & humanity should be made to suffer in this manner. I doubt there's less of a racist person alive. Hope he is reinstated PDQ or finds gainful employment elsewhere - He deserves to!

Belittling people like this, is what ended up being ’s downfall. You just end up tripping yourself. Try being Kind, even when you don’t agree with people’s opinions.

stepped down himself. Appears to acknowledge that HE messed up. Shakespeare or not, the racial connotations using ‘ape’ with Black people are well known. Should’ve learned from the Danny Baker situation.

Hoping to wake up to a petition calling for the reinstatement of I'll definitely be signing it. And you should be ashamed of yourself!!

We are on a very slippery slope if a long-standing, highly respected presenter is to lose his job for quoting Shakespeare, & someone chooses to take offence. Anyone can take offence at anything said to them if they dig deep enough - this is getting ridiculous.

The guy that falsely claimed that the Shakespeare quote had racial connotations is actually a massive racist. Whoever would have guessed? 🤔

For all the Twitter tears being shed about there seems a sad reluctance among his fellow professionals to stick their necks out and actually defend him properly. If the tide is going to turn against the woke/PC brigade then how about some collective action?
