    Yesterday we noted that Fairbanks # of days with a high temp ≥70F (21.1C) has increased by two weeks since 1930s. Here's the change in the number of days using every ºF as a threshold. Most change days at 63F or higher. No sig change in very high temps.

    Fairbanks Airport with another 70F high temp on Friday, the 60th day this year at 70F (21.1C) or higher. There's a strong trend in the number of such days in the past 92 years: nowadays expect an extra two weeks of warmth compared to pre-1940.

    Expect a nice afternoon today as breaks in the clouds will allow temperatures to climb into the lower to mid 60s across much of the Central and Eastern Interiors this afternoon. Here is a look at today's highs.

  11. Summer 2021 saw wet weather in much of Alaska. Western Alaska was wet all summer, while in the Interior it was August. The Panhandle saw dry conditions in July. There was warm weather too, with record warm in July on the central North Slope.

    Another nice afternoon is underway on the North Slope. Deadhorse is now up to 62°F as of 2pm. The record high for today is 66°F set in 2019. Yesterday's high of 61°F broke the old record of 60°F also set in 2019.

    Had an incredible time in the Red Rock Canyon and Rainbow Ridge areas of the Eastern AK Range last week. The fall colors made it clear how those areas got their name.

  15. 9 of the last 10 days have recorded rain in Anchorage, as September follows in the footsteps of a wet August. The good news is we dry out into the first part of the weekend, before rain and our first true fall storm arrives Sunday night.

    A front from the south and east will increase rain chances across the Eastern/Central Interior, north of Fairbanks. The front will merge with a northwest system and will move the rain to the Western Interior on Friday. Here are the forecasted rain totals through Saturday AM
