Academia can drag you down because rejection is the norm, not the exception. You must celebrate every success, no matter how small. Set small goals and throw a mini-party for yourself when you meet them.

Hey
#AcademicTwitter - what's your most intense professional cringe moment? Mine: I was a visiting speaker at Fancy U. Dinner plans had gotten as far as making a reservation and telling me, but apparently no farther. I ended up sitting by myself at a table for 8 for 2 hours. -

Sexual predators should not be allowed at academic conferences. If professional associations know that a prof has repeatedly violated students over decades, they are morally and ethically obligated to protect those survivors by taking action.

Why do we have to pay to park at work?
is this ‘normal’ for any other professions outside of academia? Asking for a friend. Me. I’m the friend. #AcademicChatter#AcademicTwitter -
I suggest we have a post-doc/industry career "draft", similar to the NFL draft, where people graduating with PhD's get all the flashing lights, swag, and national media attention. It'll be on PBS, of course.
