    I worked at one of these shops - to be exact! I remember vivdly the meeting we had after the death of and the de-escalation plan we created collaboratively ❤ So many other Ottawa businesses can learn from this group. Happy they're leading this!

    Why a group of Ottawa businesses is leading the charge to help workers learn to de-escalate encounters with distressed people

    The police got away with murder. No justice for Ottawa City Council also just voted against diverting *some* of the police's upcoming budget increase to health services. In this climate. In a pandemic. Fuck city council, fuck the court, and fuck this murderer.

    If our mayor cannot name anti-Black racism in his statement on violence against Black people, he cannot be trusted to meaningfully address it. He points to American violence with vague reference to issues at home while Ottawans still fight for & others. No.

    The predictability of these exonerations doesn’t make them any less obscene.

    NEWS: justice Robert Kelly has found Daniel Montsion not guilty of all charges in the killing of Abdirahman Abdi. Kelly said there is reasonable doubt about whether Montsion caused Abdirahman's death, and reasonable doubt about whether his assault of Abdirahman was excessive
