    Yes, is right! We must pass both & in order to truly protect tenants across the state from huge rent increases.

    Momentum is building for 17mil Californians who rent the place they call home! ’s anti-rent gouging bill passed out of Housing Cmte today!! Up next: my to protect against unfair evictions being heard Tues! Tenants need both bills for adequate protection!

    Yesterday was the day to dial Sacramento to boost housing capacity across CA with . Today is the day to call Sacramento to support stronger tenant protections across California with statewide just cause and Costa Hawkins reform through , and .

    These next two days will decide the future for California renters. On Thursday Asm. Housing Committee will be voting on whether or not to support two key bills - AB 36 to reform Costa Hawkins and AB 1482 to stop rent gouging. Call key legislators now:

    When turned out people from across CA for the very first hearings on what was then and AB1482, it sent a powerful message that this year would be different for tenants in Sacramento. And yesterday proved it!

    We want to make sure people understand the work it took to get passed. Like any major victory, the narrative can change. This win didn't happen over night, by magic, nor solely by elected officials.

    We were bummed when didn’t make it for the crossover deadline! Great news that just cause eviction protections live on!

    This morning I am announcing that we will be adding the just cause eviction protections in & ’s AB 1481 to our anti-rent gouging bill. These two policies, which have always gone hand in hand, will move forward in one bill.

    Asm. is presenting his legislation to limit rent increases statewide to 5% plus inflation annually. It is interesting that major supporters this year include service and construction worker unions who are big Democratic interest groups
