This new skull marrow wbc pathway, on top of Nedergaard's team's discovery of the glymphatic system, suggests new imaging techniques may make HSV + neurons visible, by labelling skull bone marrow cells, vs. labelled lymph fluid, with IF tagged antibodies to HSV! Possibilities...?

Yes, I'm sure people will start trying to figure out how to exploit this anatomy for imaging - getting your probe into that pathway would probably be the hard part.

Or use the labels in such a way that lymph reaching infected (more permeable?) neurons, is activated/"lit up" by specially prepared in-migrating skull bone marrow cells. Feeding the virus labelled arginine may also be effective, especially at a time of symptom flare.
