    NYC was powered 25% by clean nuclear energy, but as of yesterday, that’s been replaced by fossil fuels 😔

    Indian Point shut down its last reactor today, taking an annual amount of clean electricity generation offline similar to that of all wind + solar in the state of New York. Even if replaced by wind/solar (and it won't be for yrs), this is counterproductive for climate. (THREAD)

    I used FreeTaxUSA this year based on the recommendations here and it was great for my taxes.

    This was the year I stopped filing my taxes with 😌. I quit after the second dark pattern trick within 10 seconds into filing. Credit Karma isn't as good yet, but it was overall good and I recommend it.

    My brother is OK! didn't sound fun: burning wood scraps from the house, melting snow for water. On the third day, his friend (who couldn't get in touch with them), drove on the ice in his 4wd to check on them and ferried them back to his house w/ heat.

    my worst fear is not that my startup doesn’t make it because i want to be a successful startup founder that makes big $$, my fear is that we get copycatted out of existence in the short term by people who don’t understand the problem and they cannot and do not solve it long term

    a founder friend reminded me that there’s nothing unreasonable in startup world about someone copying an idea. kinda yes BUT imo what is significant and abhorrent here is that i’m building something to solve an intensely personal pain that the copycats don’t get or empathize with
