The language used here (and everywere) has always fascinated me as a former hospice nurse. These people aren't "lost", they are dead. We are so weird about death as a society that we can't even state actual facts about it most of the time. It's just a thing I notice.

As a Floridian with lots of experience with elder care I was astonished that NY allowed that to happen there would be holy hell to pay if it happened down here.

3 things. 1) they were just following the federal guidelines that were issued at the time: https://www.cms.gov/files/document/3-13-2020-nursing-home-guidance-covid-19.pdf … 2) they were short on hospital beds. And 3) most of the nursing homes already had covid19 outbreaks (how do you think those patients got covid in the 1st place?)
