M3P clearly loses drag race against C63S AMG. As expected, massive excess acceleration for 8cyl biturbo ICE on a half mile, about 800m. With double that distance, the AMG would have disappeared behind the horizon.
But nobody says it...

Just a cut-away shot. All part of making telly sadly. Drag race was done at 87% charge with people from Tesla on hand making sure they had optimum performance. So @vgrinshpun is talking bollocks.

Great to hear back, Chris. I would be happy if proven wrong, but given Top Gear history with Roadster skepticism is well justified. So to clarify, the shot showing 57% SOC is hardly cut-away, it is central to the race: “Merc is coming back at me!” It is part of the race as shown.

I am pretty sure they keep repeating and repeating these kinds of scenes to get all sorts of different angles. The result presented is the factual one as described by Chris. But the editing can't please those who really look into the details. For the long pieces they even used
