Makes sense when it comes to startups. Have you seen a large company find a way to avoid consensus decision making with new products?

Amazon. Prime Now from idea to pilot launch in Seattle in ~120ish days (it’s in one of bezos annual letters). That’s faster than some startups and impossible to do with consensus based decisions.

It may be anecdotal, but consent-driven decision making felt for us a more balanced, productive way to find a product-market fit. Especially in an environment with a high diversity of minds. Sometimes the average can also end up in mediocrity.

But think about the team and team size. If you have a small diverse team who are smart and love the the product. Each person can offer unique product perspectives. Consensus may work if you are moving fast. Does it matter how the decision is made? Or is the speed more important?
