Now I can set goals to achieve over a time frame of years and I know it still won't feel like much time. The danger is losing the urgency that comes with impatience and moving too slowly. The counter to that is increasing the ambition level of the goals.

Agreed on this. I think one of the advantages of having kids is that it makes the passage of time more meaningful, since they change and achieve goals much faster than us adults

This seems false. If you integrate your relative time lived over your lifespan, this hypothesis implies your life will feel half over by age 14 or so.
