Already successful/famous founders are an exception. They both have to spend less (no) time finding investments, they’re all inbound, and people will follow them anyway.

Depends on what your definition of active is. I’ve made investments in friends and talented founders I’ve met along the way, all while focused on my business. If anything its made me a stronger founder — you learn from others as much as they learn from you.
-
I was a founder, then active and successful angel investor before going back to being a founder. There's very minimal, if any, learning that makes you a better founder. Even if there were more, any unit of learning will be outweighed by the negative signal it sends to team.

I already invested every dollar personally I have in my startup. I’m a scout for a fund.

Being a scout is even worse, makes you incentivized to actively invest otherwise you lose the scout status. What would your gut reaction be if your employees told you they were running an investment fund on the side? Unlikely to be a positive one.

Incredibly wise and insightful
@trevorloy - although for me, it wasn't ego - I would have been more comfortable without it. But when I became a founder, I felt a responsibility to be visible, show up wherever I was asked. It took a while to learn not all visible is useful or goodThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I stopped advising and angel investing as soon as I started another company. Would rather take those meetings for the new co. Exception to the rule is if I already know the founder.

I tried to diversify in my last relationship and she was very irrational and impractical about it

Very lopsided point of view. Angel CEOs have stronger networks and better insights in fundraising dynamics and startups in general. Usually, they wouldn’t have more than 10% tied up in startups. You want them to sell their house and stock portfolio, too because otherw not all in?

I have very often wondered how boards feel about founders also being investors since it would seem to me to be a sizable distraction from their duties (and completely agree about demoralizing the team.. been there as an employee.. very frustrating)
