You might find it helpful to form your opinion after talking with people who have completed both a coding bootcamp (currently the popular bootcamps only teach programming) and college to ask them how comparable the experiences were.

I don’t doubt that intensive coding courses are useful, just like I don’t doubt that immersive French or other language courses are useful. Happy to see that these coding courses exist in colleges (and outside them). I see at least two at colleges in my area & three non-ac ones.

But it’s actually the “any subject” part of your tweet that I found most laughable. Please feel free to define what you meant, but intensive study in all fields has been around for centuries. I’m an archaeologist, e.g., and we are trained in immersive summer field schools.
