There is so much talent outside of the US. Working with contractors has been a delight. The future of many large & predominantly remote companies is inevitable. And further equalizing.

(1) At scale, your co must accommodate remote teams anyway, (2) building it from the start not at scale vastly improves odds, (3) talent is far too competitive in SV & volatile, (4) I like transparency/documentation oriented/over comm-based culture, (5) helps work/life balance

Zoom's R&D team being remote has been the driver for this conversation. Ubiquiti Networks started this trend in a major way a few years ago among high profile public tech companies and it was so out there it was a pillar in the short thesis.
